Week 2 and Week 3…A changin is in the air!!!

My oh my… What a whirlwind the past few weeks have been! I have been one busy lady. Week 2 of my unemployment grew increasingly busy..We gave our notice to our landlord.. February is our last month at our beautiful lake house. At the end of the month I am off to live with my wonderful boyfriend.. My roommate and best friend Alex is off to live with his girlfriend.

So the focus of Week 2 as well as Week 3 has been to get ready for the big MOVE! I worked hard on project downsizing. It is amazing how good it feels to get rid of things that are not actually needed. I had 20 boxes of clothes.. Clothes ranging from high school to current day. For some reason it was like pulling teeth getting rid of some of the then fashionable now not so fashionable clothes.. My friend Franki had a genius idea. Have a fashion show with the clothes that are so hard to part with. She would take photos of me in my old clothes and I can make an album, remembering forever the threads I have held on to for so long.

On Monday of Week 3 I went to my future home and looked for a storage unit in the area. I found a nice family owned place on the way to my boyfriends. I decided to go with them. That evening I went for dinner with Lee and Jack (Joel’s mom and dad). They are wonderful . I love spending time with them. Lee is a fabulous cook, sweet as can be, and we both love a lot of the same things….cooking..pictures..games..fun movies.. Joel’s dad is great .. He has awesome stories.. has always been so kind to me and a great zest for adventure. So the three of us ate over a delicious meal, told stories and had a good time.

I filled the rest of the week with going through my things.. preparing for SATURDAY.. the big day.. THE GARAGE SALE!! In between the garage sale preparation I stuck with my work out regimen the best I could. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I am doing an hour of cardio, weights, then swimming a mile.. all in all I end up at the gym about 3 hours on these days. Tuesday and Thursdays I go to my favorite class Pump. I hope with sticking with this routine I can reach my goal.. probably every ladies wish.. NO giggle! I want a firm tummy, legs, arms..you know.. I am sure you have heard the same from every other female on the planet.  Well keep your fingers and toes crossed for me.. I’ll let you know how the progression goes…..

Of course I ended up watching the season première of Lost. I don’t have television at my house so I went to a girlfriends. I have heard mixed reviews on the episode. I thought it was good. This was the only television I watched all week. Normally I will watch a DVD or two a week. This week nada, last week I didn’t either. In my unemployment I am getting away from the television world ever more than ever.. and.. I don’t miss it a BIT!

Yesterday was the BIG day.. The LAUNCH of the first day of MY FIRST garage sale.. The alarm was going off at 6:20 AM. I was so excited I was out of bed singing, makin coffee by 6:25. My roommate and I decided we better first put up the cardboard signs directing people to the sale.. the signs did say it began at 8:30.. NOTE: people come to garage sales as soon as the sun starts to rise.. So as I was assembling tables and getting my first clothes out of boxes people were around me looking at each thing I placed on the table. There was pretty much a steady stream of people around me for the next 3 or 4 hours.. But hey, it was fun, I made 60 bucks. And I got to see people find something that I had loved for years, you saw them pick up for example an item of clothing, and really like it, I saw their excitement of the first time they were going to wear it, I remembered the history and the story that item had with me. It felt good. The end of my time with something I loved, its story only known by me, now leaving to be loved by someone else. This may seem like a trivial silly thing to you.. most of you have probably gotten rid of clothes a million times.. Me, I have not.. For some reason I was holding onto all these pieces of fabric, as if that was keeping their story, their memory with me. And it was not.. All those stories are within me. I, by no means am a stingy person, I guess more of a packrat, holding onto things, this weekend was my time to share so many things I love. Today we had the sale again. When the sale was over whatever I did not sell I put into plastic bags and took to the women’s shelter. I must admit letting these things go at times was difficult over the weekend. But my time with them was done.

This weekend helped remind me of the importance of sharing, the importance of holding close all your lovely memories, the beauty in seeing a smile come across a strangers face, the cleansing feeling you get when you let go of the past, empty out a closet, and with a breath of fresh air welcome with open arms the future..

Project downsizing = SUCESS.

  1. It was wicked fun!

  2. I love your new banner! It’s exactly as you described –– and better … edgier somehow.

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to help you build it. I STILL don’t have Photoshop.
